Santiago Gervasoni
Clavecin
Santiago Gervasoni is a keyboard musician and composer based in Berlin. He was born in Nantes, France, where he studied classical piano and jazz until the age of 18. He won several French national competitions with his quintet and opened for famous musicians such as Carla Bley, Marc Ducrey and Lucky Peterson.
He then studied with Rena Shershevskaya for two years in the Paris region before moving to Berlin to take a degree in piano at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule in the classes of Fabio Bidini, Stefan Arnold and Konrad Engel. He discovered the harpsichord a year and a half before the end of his bachelor’s studies and was inevitably drawn to the world of baroque music, whose human and organic approach he appreciated as much as its proximity in many respects to the world of jazz.
After his bachelor’s degree, Santiago Gervasoni began a master’s degree at the University of the Arts in Berlin in the class of Raphael Alpermann and has since developed his career as a harpsichordist and clavichordist. He also writes and develops the potential of the harpsichord and clavichord in other languages such as electronic jazz and Latin American folk music.
