Lucine Musaelian

Lucine Musaelian is an Armenian-American viola da gamba player and singer. In 2020, Lucine received her Bachelor of Music degree with honors from Yale University. The Yale music department awarded her the Terry E. and Irene A. Sharp Prize in 2019 and the Wrexham Prize in 2020. At Yale, Lucine was a member of the Opera Theatre Company of Yale, an undergraduate-led opera company, where she provided musical direction for John Blow’s Venus and Adonis in 2019 and Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Pigmalion in 2020. She was also a member of the Schola Cantorum at Yale, where she sang for two years as a soprano and played the tenor viol in their recording of Heinrich Schütz’s Weihnachtshistorie. In addition, Lucine served as a teaching assistant to Grant Herried, the professor who directed the Yale Baroque Opera Project and the Yale Collegium musicum. From 2017-2020, Lucine was a member of the Smithsonian Consort of Viols in Washington D.C. as a soprano. Lucine is currently pursuing her master’s degree in historical performance, studying viola da gamba with Paolo Pandolfo and voice with Rosa Dominguez.
