Tomislav Lavoie
Baryton
Tomislav Lavoie studied at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal as a violinist before being hired by several renowned orchestras. After replacing a singer in the role of Masetto at the last minute, he decided to study voice at the Université de Montréal in Mark Pedrotti’s class.
While still in his first year, he was given the lead role in Le Nozze di Figaro. That same year, he was named "Young Lyric Ambassador", a distinction that allowed him to participate in several sessions and festivals in the Czech Republic while continuing his studies with Marie Daveluy.
In December 2010, he participated in the Gala de l’Opéra de Québec where the public warmly welcomed his performance. He then made his debut at the Opéra national de Paris with Alceste, in Amsterdam with Faust conducted by Marc Minkowski and at the Opéra Comique with La Muette de Portici. He has also sung under the direction of Agnès Grossmann, Tugan Sokhiev and David Agler, among others. Tomislav Lavoie is supported by the Cedric Ferguson Foundation and Jeunesses Musicales of Canada.
