Sophie Gallagher
Soprano
Soprano Sophie Gallagher initially studied the cello and organ before devoting herself entirely to singing.
She is a graduate of the Royal College of Music in London - Josephine Baker Prize - and the Haute École de Musique in Geneva. With pianist Émile Chandellier, she won first prize as a duo in the Gustav Mahler Competition in 2022.
Her operatic appearances include First Witch in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, conducted by Harry Bickett, and as Emmie in Britten's Albert Herring at the Maggio Musicale in Florence. Recently, in the 2022/2023 season, she appeared as Rachel in the world premiere of John Barber's The Song of the Ladder in Florence as well as Fiordiligi in Mozart's Così Fan Tutte at the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices in Geneva.
Sophie Gallagher collaborates regularly with Geneva's Gli Angeli ensemble and was soloist in their recent performance of Bach\'s St John Passion at the Victoria Hall and the CD recording released by Claves Records.
